How to cook 2-inch Fillet Mignon?

It’s important to follow these steps to cook a perfect 2-inch filet mignon:
1. Start by bringing the steak to room temperature. Let it sit outside the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before cooking.
2. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
3. Season the filet mignon generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper on both sides.
4. Heat a skillet or oven-safe frying pan over high heat. Add a small amount of oil or butter to the pan.
5. When the pan is hot, carefully place the filet mignon in the pan. Sear it on one side for about 2-3 minutes, until a golden-brown crust forms.
6. Flip the steak using tongs or a spatula and sear the other side for another 2-3 minutes.
7. Once both sides are seared, transfer the pan to the preheated oven.
8. Cook the steak in the oven for about 6-8 minutes for medium-rare doneness or adjust the time according to your desired level of doneness. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches your preferred level (145°F for medium-rare).
